We’ve all, or at least most of us, have seen Walt Disney’s animated Cinderella from 1950. The new live, or human, Cinderella, brought me back to Disney’s magical animated films. Even if I wasn’t connected to the original film crew from the 1950 film, I’d still love it all the same. In the new Cinderella, the storyline completely follows the 1950 film, but actually portrays a clearer picture of royalty views and isolation of the nontraditional family. The film shows a true separation, as well as outcast, of those who aren’t in power and those who are succumbed to it. It portrays how love and “destiny” can overcome separations of powers. The portrayal of the storyline is important because of the message it sends, and frankly, I found myself wiping my tears away from my eyes quite a few times. The film was magical at all the right times and is a realistic fairytale.
One piece missing: the heartache of life, during any time period.
