The Hollywood Breakdown by me, Elizabeth Younger, to inform you of my unsolicited opinion of new Hollywood. These are my telltale signs of a new Hollywood compared to the Golden Era and which “stars” are here to stay in the galaxy.
Johnny Depp is a classic actor with a perfect face, high cheek bones, great sized nose, and one of the most talented actors in the industry. Who can we compare Johnny Depp to? Marlon Brando? I could possibly compare Depp to Brando except Depp has contributed more to the industry and is appealing to a much larger film and fan base. From children’s movies, to adolescent movies, to middle-aged (classy wine drinkers) movies, Johnny Depp has outdone himself from the “Marlon Brando” category. Depp, with a multitude of talents, has made an astonishing impact on the film industry, possibly pushing actors and directors to reach for higher goals in their film’s impact.
James Franco is no Johnny Depp, and he’s no Marlon Brando either because of his film flare. Franco has lured in a different audience, possibly more fans in the minority groups (or forgotten groups) due to his selections of projects. James Franco will go down in my Hollywood breakdown as the riser to his audience, but not for his acting, for his project choice and his desire to work “outside of the box”.
